Introduction to the Research
I CAN Learn® Education Systems is committed to ongoing assessment of the
success of its programs using rigorous scientific methods of analyzing data
collected from all of its sites throughout the United States. Beginning with
the initial pilot evaluation in 1995, dozens of studies have shown the
effectiveness of I CAN Learn® Algebra and Pre-Algebra in teaching students
heretofore considered academically at risk. In nearly every case, greater student
achievement has been reported; especially for poor and minority students in
I CAN Learn® classrooms. Meeting the challenges of No Child Left Behind
requires that educational programs undergo meticulous review.

I CAN Learn® Education Systems invites its clients to supply hard data from
standardized mathematics tests to provide thorough assessments of the
effectiveness of I CAN Learn® Algebra and Pre-Algebra. It does not rely on
company-made tests or anecdotal evidence of success. Because real-world program
implementation seldom allows for true experimental evaluation designs, a variety
of other methods also are used to analyze results. The purpose of the various
methods is to give schools and districts the best available information on what
works.
